Talk about rain...there has been PLENTY of it the past few days! Can you believe that all this rain caused us to MISS SCHOOL! Crazy isn't it?! Oh well, I'm not complaining! I went to school this morning despite the rain and the "optional" work day. I had so much to do in my classroom that not working wasn't really an option, and today was the perfect day to do it!

Obviously I didn't assign any more homework tonight...that just means that I'll have to give homework tomorrow night! You heard me, HW on a Friday night...mean Mrs. Bowers!  :)

Chapter 2 test will be next TUESDAY!!!

See you all tomorrow...maybe, if we don't all float away first!? :)

I'll leave you with a picture...it's the view from my front door!

Like D'Andre keeps announcing in class...It's been raining cats and dogs these past few days! And all this rain has been a bit of a pain, BUT now it's gotten us a two hour delay for tomorrow! I'm DEFINITELY not complaining about that AT ALL!

One-step equations were the name of the game today...not your plain ol' average equations either! No, these had fractions and decimals in them...which was enough to scare my students to death! :)

HOMEWORK TONIGHT:
Block 1: pg. 94 12-30 evens
Block 2: worksheet...all
Block 3: pg. 94 12-30 evens

We started Accelerated Math today! The kids didn't want to stop! That's a GREAT thing! Acc. Math gives students a chance to work at their own pace and practice skills that they need to work on! Not to mention, it also gives them instant feedback! Let's hope their still interested in it after a few days!

HOMEWORK:

Bl 1 and 2: pg. 86 4-20all
Block 3: NO HOMEWORK!

What a RAINY RAINY day it's been! My first block had a hard time keeping their eyes open despite my riveting lesson this morning! The rain drops and overcast skies definitely made it hard to wake up and start the day for ALL OF US!

Still working on fractions...adding and subtracting today. Tomorrow we will add in some equations and finish up Ch. 2 on Wednesday with scientific notation and exponents.

Out CH. 2 Test will be on Friday. That means several things...1) There will probably be a QUIZ on Thursday; 2) Notes (foldables) will be due on Friday; 3) We've still got a LOT of work to do to get ready for this test! :)

Progress reports were sent home in my Block One and Block Two today. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me!

Lastly...HOMEWORK FOR TONIGHT:

Bl 3: pg. 86 4-14 even

PROGRESS REPORTS SHOULD BE SIGNED AND RETURNED BY WEDNESDAY!

Hey all  my loyal blog readers...all 3 of you! Not to much to report on today. I know that you are dying to know if we're still working on fractions and that would be a YES! Ordering and comparing fractions seems to be a hard concept to grasp. I'm not giving up though because in my room, failure is NOT AN OPTION!

Tomorrow all my classes will be quizzed...AGAIN...on comparing, ordering, converting, and multiplying fractions and decimals.

HOMEWORK FOR TONIGHT:
Block One: Dividing Fractions worksheet
Block Two: Finish orange sheet...converting fractions and decimals, and order the squares from least to greatest
Block Three: Finish orange sheet AND workbook pages 11 (1-15) and 12 (1st column).

Decimals and fractions....fractions and decimals...we can't seem to get enough of them these days! Today we learned how to multiply fractions...we took a lesson from Agent Oso and used 3 (actually 4) special steps...cue in cheesey song from the cartoon. :) Of course, this can only mean that up next is dividing, adding, and subtracting.

Tomorrow is an EARLY RELEASE day...YAHOO! Students are being dismissed at 12:25. Teachers get to stay and take the role of students by learning new strategies and interventions that we can use in our classes.

Mondays hit me like a TON of bricks EVERY WEEK! I spent a relaxing weekend at Emerald Isle with Ivy and Vinse! We played on the beach, Vinse got to go fishing, and of course, my favorite, we ATE GOOD FOOD! And like a flash, it was over and back to reality!

Today was a Computer Lab kind of day! We worked on several sites practicing our FRACTION ACTION! We had a great time in the lab playing games and practicing with fractions...I bet they didn't even realize they were working and learning! :) Love it when that happens!

Well not too much to report from school...we didn't win the Feed the Bin contest...I'm a little bummed, but I'll survive. Wednesday is an early release day...WOOHOO! Lastly, I'll probably give a fraction QUIZ ON FRIDAY!

HOMEWORK FOR TONIGHT:
Block One: The LUCKY ONES! ...NO HW!
Block Two: pg. 219 L2.2 ODDS
Block Three: Study Island Worksheet...front and back!

See you tomorrow!!!

This is EXACTLY how I felt yesterday after introducing fractions! So today we started back at Fractions 101...Back to Basics! We covered writing fractions, reducing fractions, and changing improper fractions to mixed numbers. Tomorrow we'll start Fractions 102...Changing fractions to decimals and vise versa. Should be pretty interesting! :)

HOMEWORK FOR TONIGHT:
Bl. One: Worksheet...all questions front and back
Bl. Two and Three: Worksheet....even problems

I'd also like to point out something amazing and incredible...I have posted BEFORE 7:00pm...thank you, thank you! :)

Have a good evening!

Here are two pictures from Tuesday when Keiko Shomoto from Hiroshima University came to visit our class. She did a GREAT job and even gave us a mini-language lesson! Arigatou Keiko!
