Hope that everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I certainly did! I hated to see it come a go so quickly, but that only means that Christmas is getting closer!

This is kind of a crazy week in our Math class! We are finishing up Ch 4 (well the first 3 lessons) and starting Ch. 11...and we are doing this simultaneously. We took a quiz today (I know, mean right?!) on Ch 4 stuff. Needless to say, we'll be quizzing again tomorrow. Ch 4 test will be on Wednesday.

Progress reports will go home next Monday. With all the holiday craziness, we haven't been able to get as many grades in as we had hoped. By waiting until next Monday, you'll get a more accurate look at what your child is doing AND they still have 4 weeks to improve if need be!

HOMEWORK FOR TONIGHT:
Bl 1, 2, and 3: SLOPE worksheet...front and back

Love that song...:)

Okay, the Monday before Thanksgiving Break is always a CRAZY day! However, we did manage to work on slope just a little more! And, yes, this MEAN ol' math teacher even gave her students HOMEWORK...can you believe that?!

HOMEWORK:
Block 1, 2, and 3: Finish slope worksheet and finish graph (must be colored!)

See

We are currently working on Rate of Change and Slope....two very important concepts for our 8th graders to understand. This is one of the building blocks they will expand on in Algebra.

Homework for tonight...
Block 1 and 2: Finish ROC worksheet we started on in class...SHOW YOUR WORK if you want credit
Block 3: Slope Worksheet...front only

See you on Friday...that's right...I won't be there tomorrow! :)

Yeah, I'm pretty excited about having a little vacation next week! Not to mention all the GOOD food I planning on eating...it's a win win...no school/good food! Thanksgiving is DEFINITELY my favorite holiday!

Today Bl 1 and 2 took their Ch 10 test. Unfortunately, most of them did not finish so I won't be returning grades until Friday (I won't be at school on Thursday...shhh....don't tell my students! They might just kill over with excitement!).

HOMEWORK:
Bl. 1 and 2: Worksheet...front and back...ratios and unit rate
Bl. 3: Worksheet...front and back...Rate of Change

It's official...I'm back from my blogging hiatus! I know that soooo many people missed my posts, and I hated leaving all of you hanging! :) Or it could have been that I actually had some parents say it was helpful...either way, I'm back.

We started Ch. 4 today. Ch 4 covers slope, proportions, rates, ratios, etc. Slope is a HUGE part of the 8th grade EOG. We'll spend lots of time working on slope.

Block One and Two are having their Ch. 10 Test tomorrow. They were given a study guide on Friday that is almost an exact copy of the test. We went over it today in class. Their Ch. 10 Notes are also due tomorrow (it's either a green or pink foldable). Block three took their test last week.

HW for the night (yeah, just realized that I gave HW the night before a test...sorry about that...atleast it's easy)
Block 1 and 2: pg. 158 10-30 evens
Block 3: Worksheet front and back

Have a good evening!!!

Today I introduced my students to the Real Number System. What may seem like a basic lesson of naming numbers  is actually a difficult concept for middle schoolers to grasp. Hopefully, by using a graphic organizer, I made it just a little easier for my students to understand.

HOMEWORK FOR TONIGHT:
Block 1, 2, and 3: Worksheet...front and back

Today we took a final test for Ch. 2, and I haven't graded them all but the ones I have look pretty good! :) Next up is Chapter 3...this is a VERY IMPORTANT chapter! We'll learn more about rational numbers and even throw in some irrational numbers....add a little Pythagorean Theorem, square roots, and graphing....and now you have an idea about what Ch. 3 is all about. The EOG LOVES Ch. 3!

HOMEWORK TONIGHT:
All Blocks...complete graphing sheet (make sure you color it!)

I sincerely apologize to all five of you that might actually read this ever once and a while, BUT there's not a whole lot going on these days AND quite frankly, I'm TIRED! :)

NO HOMEWORK TONIGHT (no, I'm not kidding or crazy!)
CHAPTER TWO TEST TOMORROW!

That's all folks!

CH 2 Test on THURSDAY

BENCHMARK tomorrow

CH 2 Notes due THURSDAY

HW...ALL BLOCKS...pg. 111  3-25 ALL

Today was one of the first days that we haven't had rain in a WHOLE week! Thank goodness! It was still overcast this morning which made it a tad bit difficult to wake up, but I did! And what a day! Thankfully we've FINALLY completed Chapter Two! I wasn't sure that we'd EVER be able to move on from the FEROCIOUS FRACTIONS!

(Do you ever notice that I use !!! all the time ... and what about those guys, the three periods...I use them a lot too! :) )

Sooooo.....CHAPTER TWO TEST ON WEDNESDAY; QUIZ TOMORROW; CH 2 FOLDABLE DUE WEDNESDAY!

Lastly...HW: All 3 blocks: Worksheet...front and back!
